An Invitation to the Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce
Every community has a moment when leadership quietly shows up — and everything that follows can be traced back to that decision.
This proposal invites the Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce to step into that role — not as a background sponsor, but as the hero of the origin story for a new, replicable model of community leadership.
Not because Hot Springs is the biggest town.
But because it is willing to be the first.
This work begins with shared discovery.
The Foundational Quest is a community-wide learning cycle designed to listen first, reflect together, and understand what is truly possible.
Through surveys, conversations, and guided reflection, participants explore:
what people care about
what capacities already exist
what is quietly waiting to be supported
what kind of future feels honest and achievable
We learn about ourselves.
We learn about each other.
We learn about the community as a whole.
Nothing is assumed in advance.
No outcome is pre-decided.
As understanding deepens, the community may explore several pathways, including:
the possibility of forming a new 501(c)(3)
the potential of cooperative structures
or the emergence of a third path not yet visible
Each option is studied with care — including its advantages, challenges, and long-term implications.
One possible outcome is moving forward with shared structures and purpose.
Another is choosing to continue as we are, but with greater clarity and confidence.
There is no “right” answer.
The practice of discovery is the foundation.
This Quest is designed so leadership becomes:
visible
appreciated
remembered
Thank You materials, public acknowledgments, and a permanent web presence ensure sponsors and
partners are honored.
This is not anonymous support.
This is leadership people can point to.
Focused on people.
Participants are guided through writing and reflection that helps them:
put lived experience into clear words
build confidence and self-understanding
contribute to a shared Community Wisdom Collection
This is everyday writing for everyday life.
Focused on the community.
Participants work together to:
design and collect surveys
support local nonprofits with usable data
learn practical AI-supported organization tools
explore nonprofit and cooperative pathways
Survey teams gain real, resume-worthy skills.
Every Quest concludes with a shared meal and public reading.
This ritual centers:
shared food
shared stories
shared gratitude
The first plates are delivered to elders and homebound neighbors — not leftovers, but first takings.
This is care made visible.
Phase One Goal: $10,000+
Supports:
both Quests
surveys and synthesis
facilitation and coordination
Community Table Celebration
Any funds beyond $10,000 strengthen delivery without obligating future phases.
Phase One ends with:
the Community Table Celebration & Reading
a final report
clear recommendations
No future phase is assumed.
After Phase One, the community may choose to continue with:
a 501(c)(3) development Quest
a cooperative development Quest
a third-path Quest determined through the community discovery, learning and determination process
Each phase stands alone.
This project is currently in a foundational phase and is not yet a 501(c)(3).
Sponsorships function as business sponsorships.
Recognition qualifies as marketing.
Funds are stewarded transparently:
50% supports facilitation
50% supports local hiring and expenses
This is Visionary Leadership in practice:
stepping forward early
listening before building
finishing what is started
Years from now, when other towns adopt this model, there will be a first chapter.
It begins here.
